So you have 5 days and you have to decide on seeing two places in Italy. You don't get out much so you don't need to see every site in detail you want to just skim the areas top tourists traps than boast to your friends that you went out of the country and did all the things that you see on TV.  Welcome to your guide on the top cities to see in short time, I recommend that you do at least two days each city so, in this case, these are the destinations I would go to (listed by train station stops names, don't waste time take the Trenitalia Frecce train):

All Tickets approximately 90$ round trip each/person per single destination
Rome (Italy name: Roma Termini)  to Florence (Italy name: Firenze S.M.N) 5 days
Venice(Italy name: Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia) to Milan (Italy name: Milano Centrale) 5 Days
Rome (Italy name: Roma Termini) to Naples (Italy name: Napoli Centrale) 5 Days

Rome is a place you visit multiple times I would say you would need 5 trips of 5 days to get a flavor of the entire country. From this point on I will highlight how quickly the day can go for a Rome to Florence trip and some of the sites we were able to see. Depending on your energy scheduling a tour and thinking that's all you can do will certainly get your body in trouble. See we want to go everywhere but if were not under 17 - 20 years old you need the sleep and rest to recover especially with that toxin alcohol, check out what we were able to do:

Then we got to Florence oh wow for the eyes it is a visual camera man's jewel. A mixed city with a slower place than Rome but areas where you can find yourself in trouble surrounded by pseudo big hills or mountains its main pleasures include the Duomo, Uffizi Gallery and a strong shopping district. You also have the issues of the surrounding attractions Leaning Tower of Piza, and my favorite Modena for the Ferrari/Lamborghini museums, the pain of options I say.

Uffizi Gallery

Duomo

So there are a couple of options when you fly into Rome, Sunday night getting ready for your Monday serenade. If your one of the folks that plan's ahead and makes a decision that you will stay on schedule good luck there is always a hidden jewel not captured on normal itineraries that will catch your eye so you may get off track, as disciplined is sometimes a wasted tool in such an adventurer. Let's look at the presumed plan and what really happened:

Give you hints of the main sites:

So what had happened we got slapped with the locals, they were entertaining and had places to show us. We were enamored by the main sites but what about a short trip to a local villa, or the invite for lunch at a small.

We prepaid for all of these trips figure each ticket to be 50$ a piece on average with an average of 3 tours a day 150 to 200$ per day. Word to wise schedule 2 trips a day and don't book pre-tours see what you can get to and pay for the site may save you some dollars.  If you have 5 days to 2.5 days each city and enjoy the time at your own pace and the hotel for "Dormire". Grazie..
