BMW M6 Grand Coupe – Competition AKA LE COUP AVEC QUATRE PORTES

So this is the era of the Horsepower wars …. It seems as if everything has north of 300hp now. For me it’s like going to Colombia or Brazil as a man, your standards of the local small town girl suddenly are erased by the hot local Senioritas, suddenly Mount Valley High Sexy seem like just another face in the vast oasis of beauties in these countries that are similar to the University affect. So what does this mean from an automotive perspective bad or good, All good my friends were all good. Let’s get to Why? In the past more horsepower meant teens in the mpg, guess what high hp means now 20’s yes 20 mpg for high hp monsters that will tear the neck off of your 69 Chevy Camaro. It is scary that all this power is available to anyone with a check book, but with the leaps and bounds of vehicle safety technology it makes it harder to be driving a car one way and be spun around going the other way. Enough of the rant let’s get to Le BMW Coup Avec Quatre Portes:

How did this even come about, the concept of a 4 dour coupe. Well sorry for beamer fans this was not actually a conceptualized idea, this was more of a "me too". The start of the 4 door coupe era started with Toyota, no really I said Toyotosan.

The 3rd generation ST200 Series Toyota tilted the first coupes of the 90’s

It was then followed by an Infinite J30

So these cars didn’t make BMW go to the drawing board, I understand but there counterpart across the way in Stuttgart made a hit in the mid 2005 that changed the game. The CLS , when this coupe came out it had an impact similar to the Chrysler 300 Series in iconic change to the car design median. BMW had nothing in its stable and had to rush to the drawing board…..6 years later (Little lag there BMW) the car was introduced the BMW 640i gran coupe. The impact of this car was long gone and sales haven’t been on par as the early CLS because the wow factor is gone. I digress to say sales number don’t indicate the character of a car and I think we are all totally wrong, if looks would have it, engine would have it, interior would have it the BMW M6 Gran Coupe is the grandest and best rendition of coupe ever to have come from Germany. The BMW was introduced with 4.4L V8 with 560 hp and 500 lb torque. The latest competition edition adds a boost of 40 hp and 16 lb of torque respectively upping the ante to 600 hp and 516 lb of torque. What does that mean, I think we can say this will keep up with the current stable of 600+ and 700+ 4 dour monsters for Americas and obliterates its Germany company barring the RS7 which I think this was intended to keep up with.

When they said El beemer has lost its connectivity to the driver, this car erases that fear. This is what an M should be in every sense of the word and what it is. The M6 gran coupe feels a little bit more special than other M vehicles the fit and finish and detail a little bit more exquisite it belongs on top of the BMW throne. I garner the .95g turning is a bit understated, and this thing will do well keeping up or passing any of it’s german coupe mates. We will have to see for the next generation as Cadillac and Jaguar will win the track races but as for now the updated comp package truly is the greatest M to have. I think the transporter needs to add another German into the mix. Who said Iranian relations were not good, a thanks to the beautiful designer Nader Faghihzadeh.
