The Last of the Purist - Mercedes Benz AMG-GTR

It seems like car manufacturers have given up on the RWD base sports car, well let me be quite frank the long-standing reign of the Corvette Front Engine sports car has now been turned to bits. Who is left in this premium market for those who don't mind the oversteer, drift, drag procedure? There is not many left in this segment ($200k and under) matter fact the closest competitors in the who's left from a nimble front-engine sports car perspective is the Aston Martin Vantage, Ford GT500 (not really released yet, not in this segment), Jaguar F Type SVR, Camaro ZL1 (released but not in this segment), and your's truly the Benz AMG GTR. I think right now with the ZR1 now saying Sayonara you have the leader of the pack, though the GT500 and the ZL1 have some complaints lets be honest they're just not in this segment I am just throwing them in because we know of there capabilities.

What's New:

Nothing really notable for performance, except the update to the latest firmware, if you wanted to be super pure there is a Pro Series of the AMG GTR that has been released. That is a low volume car and is essentially an all-out tracker where the AMG GTR Benz now tow's the middle ground. Here we are in the last iteration of a purist machine with Aston Martin's full line up in this front-engine form they have also conceded to the mid-engined platform for the foreseeable future. The tech has been upgraded but the aesthetic treatments are the same with the biggest variant coming from the GT-C which bumps up the HP to 550 making it closer to the Green Hell or Yellow Hell in this form which adorns the following:

Engine: 4.0 TT V8 / RWD
HP & TQ: 577 LB and 516 LB TQ
Trans: 7 Speed Dual Clutch
0-60: Under 3.6 Seconds
1/4 Mile: 11.2 to 11.5 / 125 - 129 MPH
Top Speed: 198 MPH
Nurburgring times: 7:10.92

What makes this a track car:

Conventional wisdom would say you could just stop here, but no no no my dear friends the purist car is meant more for track days lets detail the improvements that make this car special from a cornering perspective. Get to the tires and it's evident you're dealing with a monster Michelin Pilot Cup 2's that hit the rear with a staggered set up of 275/35 front and 325/30 rear. The totally reworked suspension includes a system called Active Aerodynamics that depending on the mode you select, lowers the car by 40 millimeters to change the airflow considerably. In addition, the Louvres control the active air management, in particular, the cooling which is a critical component to high strain, high-pressure lap times they closed for top speed engagement and open when cornering optimizing the airflow for a direction of your choice and open also when it gets too hot, the car than calls for some cooling help where the Louvre totally opens up. The aesthetics also change to the sidewalls opening the back up 57 millimeters (nearly 3 inches wider). Double wishbone, coil-over suspension designed specifically for this model, rear-wheel steering of up to 1.5 degrees, and thicker tubular anti-roll bar further enhance the steering ability feel. Then you have the specific setups including race mode, specific material including uni-ball spherical bearings instead of a wishbone, and a new smarter speed-sensitive sports steering. This is a double paragraph of changes just on the steering is there any more reason to understand the focus of this car.

If you're looking for a technology section in an AMG-GTR I'll stop you right there... Let me come back 577 HP and 516 LB TQ weighing 3,627 lb with a Nurburgring time of 7:10 Seconds.
