BMW M5 2021 - REFRESH IS IT ENOUGH

If it's good don't fix it, you could say that about the M5 F10 version but this rendition, In my opinion, is an evolution but a step back. The M5's career in the slow but still vital midsized sedan market has been crowned king, many of have come and gone Jaguar XFR-S, Cadillac CTS-V (remember the CT5-V is not a direct replacement) and some other brands with an attempt to dent the market hold of the forgotten but still to me the most attractive of vehicles the 4 door luxury sedan but at this time for a borderline sports car performance sector there is any couple of brands around who care to feather their tail in this sector, Mercedes, Audi, and BMW.  I'll give Cadillac and Lexus an honorable mention there atleast still trying, and Cadillac is oh so close.

So here is the change to the BMW after the recent release of the F90 it's almost 3 years from its first release of 2018 so now is the time for the botox, nip tuck, or testosterone enhancements whatever you choose to call it this is where BMW attempts to improve or make like new what they have catapulted as the hallmark of the Super Sports Sedan. So let's look at the key points that have not changed the power specs:

BMW M5 COMPETITION

617 HP | 553 LB TQ | 4.4L TT V8 | RWD-AWD | 1.00 Cornering G.

0-60: 3.1 Seconds | 1/4 Mile: 10.8 Seconds -124-128 MPH | Top Speed: 189 MPH

BMW M5

600 HP | 553 LB TQ | 4.4L TT V8 | RWD-AWD | .98 Cornering G.

0-60: 3.4 Seconds | 1/4 Mile: 11.1 Seconds -124-126 MPH | Top Speed: 189 MPH

So what is good is still good now we get into the physicality because they always say its the outside that counts (now that we know the insides are the same). We could do a full write up but why when this photo highlights the changes that make this different from 2019 it starts with the new LED Headlights lets get to the most important technicals:

  • Featuring new shock absorbers from the BMW M8 Gran Coupé and a retuned chassis, the BMW M5 Competition offers even better driveability and handling at the limit, combined with superior comfort levels. The BMW M5 Competition sits seven millimetres lower than the BMW M5 and includes other well-conceived tweaks to the suspension and springs. This setup makes allowance for the car’s extra power and truly comes into its own on the race track.
  • The new two-button operating concept in the centre console originates from the BMW M8. The M Mode button lets the driver toggle swiftly between the ROAD and SPORT settings. The Setup button takes them straight to the central display’s menu, where they can select an individual configuration for the powertrain and chassis options. The BMW M5 Competition also offers TRACK mode, for an undiluted M feeling on race circuits.

If you liked the M Before you still like it even with the extra tech the proponent of advantage on this serve is the launch control which is much more easily accessed, and the addition of a damper setting. Now its back to work to the other party's of the game to see on what they chose to pump into there outgoing models from Benz and Audi.
